Acomplia
Acomplia (rimonabant) is an anti-obesity drug from the group of CB1 cannabinoid receptor antagonists. It can help people also diagnosed with diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol to get rid of excessive weight. You will need to talk to your health care provider before staring the treatment to make sure there is no risk associated with it. Taking Acomplia may not be completely safe if you have a history of an allergic reaction to this medicine. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are also not supposed to be taking this drug as there is a risk it may harm to an unborn baby. Acomplia may pass to breast milk and therefore affect the health and wellbeing or your nursing infant. Some people may not be able to take this medication because of certain health problems they may have. The following ones are supposed to be reported to your health care provider before you start taking Acomplia: liver problems, impaired kidney function or a history of epilepsy. Any of the conditions mentioned may interfere with the success of your treatment and your health care provider may tell you to avoid using Acomplia. Other possible solutions include adjusting the dose and monitoring you for side effects. It’s important that you let your doctor know if you intend to combine any other medications with Acomplia, as there is a risk of drug interference. Make sure you mention any of the following medications in case of using them: epilepsy drugs, antifungals, antidepressants, rifampicin, antidiabetes medications, HIV medications, drugs for normal blood lipid levels, antibiotics, St. John’s wort, depression medications, and medicines for weight loss. If you are taking several drugs, make sure you make a list of them and show to your health care provider to avoid side effects that can be easily prevented. The following side effects are possible when taking Acomplia: depression, anxiety, dizziness, vomiting, nausea, restlessness, sleep problems, dry mouth, irritability, nausea, irritability, and anorexia. If you notice any of them – make sure you watch them to see if they change in intensity. There is no need to report them to your health care provider unless the side effects mentioned get bothersome or start to interfere with your everyday activities. If you happened to take too much of this medicine and experience such symptoms as headache, euphoria, fatigue, or insomnia, make sure you talk to your health care provider immediately or report the symptoms to your local emergency center.
